Have your say: Public consultation launched on Future Energy Llanwern

Future Energy Llanwern is a proposed utility-scale solar farm located south-east of the Llanwern Steelworks and the village of Redwick.

Designed for a 40-year operational lifespan, the solar farm will generate approximately 380MW (megawatts) of clean energy all year around. After which it would be taken away and the land returned to agricultural use.

We are seeking your views to help shape the proposals, including how the project could reduce local impacts during construction and operation, and how it could deliver benefits to the surrounding community.

A copy of the Statement of Community Consultation (SoCC), prepared under Section 47 of the Planning Act 2008, is available to view on our website and at local deposit locations. The SoCC sets out how Future Energy Llanwern will consult with local communities and stakeholders. You can find a copy at the following locations:

Statutory Consultation Dates

The statutory consultation is now live and will run from Wednesday 10 December 2025 to Sunday 15 February 2026.

Future Energy Llanwern is progressing through the Development Consent Order (DCO) process, with a consent application expected in 2026.
